Time to Wake up
I know Manhattan's dizzying pace and diversity can sometimes make the place seem like Fantasy Island, but if you suffer from the idea that the mainstream media promotes conservative causes, you crossed the barrier from fantasy to delusion.
The mainstream media is certainly more liberal conservative (Dan Rather, in case you forgot). In fact, the overall response of the media following the elections was something of shock and dismay. The entire New York Times editiorial staff, with the exceptions of Brooks and Safire, went into some sort of verbal mourning. These people were all shocked since it is very likely that few of them live in an area where there are more than 25% Republicans (New York City, LA, Washington DC). All of the country's media centers are dominantly Democrat.
Instead of seeing this red vs. blue state comparison as a Rove conspiracy, it is better to look at it as something created by a left-leaning media trying to understand how Bush could have one the election.

Ah yes, the So Called Liberal Media...
The media that gave Clinton a total pass, not at all driving the feeding frenzy to his impeachment.
The media that during the 2000 election didn't at all drill Al Gore with trumped up faux lies like "he invented the internet", while focusing like a laser on Bush's actual line of crap, not to mention a dodgy background filled with coke and National Guard shenanigans.
The media that doesn't at all have an ENTIRE station dedicated to conservative propaganda, with the rest trying desperately to follow suit with their own conservative dominated talking head shows.
The media that, led by the uber-liberal New York Times and their commie propagandist Judith Miller, did everything they could to question the Bush Admin's rock-solid intelligence claims during the run-up to the Iraq war, keeping us out of an unnecessary war.
The media that has diligently held the Bush Administration accountable, always asking the "tough questions".
Sorry dude... you need to quit smoking Bill O'Reilly's dope.

maybe i'm late, but if you really are trying to say the media isn't to the left. you're kidding yourself. just look at all the actors and musicians that are openly liberal. then look at the the people who write all the garbage about them and make them look like heros. e.g. julia roberts, parisite hilton, j. ho., etc. they make them look admirable, but we all know they're just skanks. but they sell papers.
i'm independent- voted for slick willy, and voted for bush, but the difference is ole slick used the white house for immoralities that every liberal tried to blow off. and bush did what he thought was right, with conviction. remember when bush took over, he strived for isolationism. trying to install a national missle defense system, and the world went nuts. i still like slick, anyone who got away with so much deserves kudos. and bush has made mistakes too, but he didn't lie. remember the congress, senate, un, and every other country said saddam had wmd. we just acted on it. and after 9/11, i don't blame him. just imagine if everyone stopped complaining,(eu) and helped out in iraq, and with iraq and afghanistan free, it would put massive pressure on iran, who is just waiting to burst with rebellion. i know for sure that france, china, russia, and the u.n. does not want that. just my two cents. i don't judge anyone, and i really don't take sides. but i don't want to become like the leftists media and europe. they are down a really slippery slope with no hope. just look at their churches. they have all become museums.

Sorry roman, I'm a little late getting to your late response, but this was just too amazing to pass up...
First of all, what does the hell does "openly liberal" mean? Is that like being "openly gay" or "openly Satanic" or something? I'm assuming being "openly conservative" is cool, though, right? But you really don't take sides...
Anyway, when I refer to "The Media" I'm talking about the print and television news media (The Fourth Estate), who are in theory supposed to be doing unbiased journalism and educating the public. That has nothing to do with "openly liberal" actors and musicians and the throngs of people cashing in on them... cashing in on the fact that conservative Middle America does nothing but consume their crap.
Okay, so let me get this straight: "openly liberal" people are destroying our society, Clinton lied about a blowjob and despite HUGE approvale ratings and big achievements is a sack of shit, Bush lied us into an uneccessary war (despite your WMD/9-11 fantasy the contrary) and makes a hobby of stealing from the poor and giving to the rich, but is a "man of God", so it's cool, oh, and Europe with it's strong Euro, free healthcare, and generally high standard of living is "down a slippery slope with no hope" because of their churches? Wow.

I must be insane. When I was young I was a Democrat because the Democratic platform seemed to enbrace tolerance and an end to mindless hatred. When I became older, I was for Carter because he seemed to be a good person, and qualified. I can no longer vote Democratic because the candidates put forth do not appear to be intelligent, their campaigns are rife with anger, and they cannot communicate except by script.
On all sides, the writing effort seems to be an exercise to show how intelligent the writer is. The issues are mentioned, like code words, but never discussed. Is this how it should be? If so, I must be insane.

Sid -
So you vote Republican because they appear intelligent (you saw the Presidential debates, right?), their campaigns don't ever rest solely on smear tactics and outright distortions, and they're never 100% scripted?
Yea, you must be insane.
