In the face of fairly concrete allegations that "anonymous senior White House officials" have leaked the identity of Joseph Wilson's wife (a cover CIA operative) in retribution for his actions, one would hope that the rule of law would be every citizen's top priority. No such luck. As Kevin Drum of CalPundit points out, it appears that many stalwarts of conservative thought have instead decided to aim their guns at Joseph Wilson himself, as though there could be some aspect of his character or actions that could justify such an obscene breech of the public trust from this administration.

To those people so wrapped up in the long-term objectives of "their side" that they've lost sight of the big picture, I'd like to ask a question (everyone else can stop reading). Regardless of your political ideology, do you really want to live in a country in which we accept such egregious behavior from our leaders? Once you've flung that door open, how soon before you're on the losing side of it? I just wish I could resurrect a Founding Father and have him put you in a head-lock until you remember what it is that's required of us to keep this country great.
